Confirmation

The Confirmation Service, conducted by the Bishop of Whitby, is a special service where each candidate, having learned the promises made on their behalf at their baptism, and having reached the 'age of discretion', ratifies and confirms these promises for themselves before God and the wider congregation.

During the service, the congregation, as well as supporting and praying for the candidates, will also be invited to reflect on the promises they themselves made at their own confirmation.

Candidates for confirmation will have undergone a course of preparation, during which they will have gained a deeper understanding of the Creed, the Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments.
