More about the concerts

It is planned to include 'The World' in Union' in each concert. Based on 'Thaxton', the familar theme in Gustav Holsts 'Jupiter' (the Bringer of Jollity) from The Planets suite, church goers will recognise it as the tune for "I vow to thee my country" . Rugby Union fans, however, will be more familar with it as the Rugby World Cup theme song, with words by Charlie Skarbek. It was first sung by Kiri Te Kanawa for the 1991 World Cup in England. In 1994 in was sung by Ladysmith Black Mabazo and in 1999 it was sung by Shirley Bassey and Bryn Terfel, and has been sung at all World Cup events ever since.

Tickets: Because of limited space in the church, admission will be by ticket only.

Details for obtaining tickets will be published in due course.

Note: There will be a 'bucket-collection for the entertainment provided by the Saxophone Group at the Fun Run / Family Picnic event.
